The Quilter’s Christmas Advent Calendar

Hi!
I hope you’ve enjoyed your week. As you know, it’s been a bit busy here as we’re right in the middle of our final sale for this year’s Quilter’s Christmas Advent Calendar. I’m madly sorting patterns and emails, and loading them up ready to come out to those who are joining us from the 1st December.
I am a bit obsessed now with Christmas quilting, and to be fair, I do spend much of my year planning for this fantastic end-of-year program.
For those who haven’t checked it out yet, you’ll find all the details at www.QuiltersAdventCalendar.com , but in a nutshell, I email out a surprise pattern every day from the 1st through the 25th December, as we count down to Christmas together. Yes – you read that right – that’s 25 full patterns, PLUS a bunch of bonuses!
I have had some questions on the kinds of patterns that are included, and no – they’re not funny little block patterns stretched out over December. They are FULL patterns, and each day you will receive a different one for you to keep. There’s quilts, table runners, wallhangings, decor items, bags, giftable items to make and more!
Some you’ll make for Christmas, and some you’ll make for gifts, and others will be happily stockpiled to be looked at again in the New Year. This is honestly one of the best value gifts you can give yourself this year, and I’d love for you to join us.
Whilst I can’t show you what’s in this year’s program, cause I’m not going to spoil the surprise, I can show you a selection of patterns from previous Advent Calendars…
A Jelly-Roll-friendly quilt. Make it in Christmas prints, or just use a regular set of strips for a year-round pattern.
Beautiful 3D felt and ribbon runner, with poinsettia, holly and mistletoe.
Fabric covered balls to make a fun modern wreath.

I got distracted by your Singer treadle sewing machine. What year is it? Do you still use it or is it just decor now? It looks a lot like my 1913 White treadle machine that I got at an estate sale when I was about ten. It still had all the feet and attachments, even the original manual (although that was crumbling). All it needed was a new belt, and then it worked fine! Unfortunately, it was lost when I moved from Pittsburgh, PA to the San Francisco Bay area 40 years ago. Oh, well, every place I’ve lived in since I moved here has been too small for it anyway. So I do all my crafting by hand, which is fine for a number of reasons. Doesn’t mean I don’t miss it, though.

I can’t remember the date of my Singer machine offhand (and it’s messily buried under a pile of Christmas projects right now 🙂 ), but it would be around the time of yours, I think. I’ve never used it to sew, as it does need some work done, but I think it will be great then. It’s waiting until I have a bit more space too….

I am sorry, but I have just published my last issue of our Online Quilt Magazine. It’s been 17 years in publication, but it’s time for a change, and I will be launching some new fun quilty surprises early next year. Watch this space (and my weekly newsletter), and I’ll let you know as soon as we’re ready with them.
